The "Food" post

Sunday after breakfast, Mark, Gary and I decided to head to the markets on Nathan Road. It wasn't too hot but it was a little crowded. It became clear pretty early on that food would be a main topic of the day.

On some of the side streets were lots of fruit and vegetable stands.

Most of the shop-keepers are very friendly.

There was lots of ginger, bok choy, and other traditional ingredients.

There was also a lot of meat including chicken and all of their useable parts.

Next door to the chicken lady, was a beef shop. All of the meat was hanging un-refridgerated in the 85+ degree heat.

Cow lung. Nummy.

The always popular meat-on-a-stick.

The all of the meat gets chopped up in sight.

Seafood is always available, like the orange squid here.

Or fish.

Or eels.

Or frogs.

I hear they taste like chicken.

Shrimp is also readily available. As well as crabs and lobsters.

You could also have chicken (left) duck (right) or crispy roasted pork.

The woman running the vegetable stand enjoys some rice.

A worker at Mak's Noodle gets the pasta ready.

This time the guys are making shrimp dumplings.

Fresh seafood is readily available, just don't eat too much.

You might think this was a food court at a mall in the U.S. This mall food court happens to be above one of the MTR stops. Notice the Pizza Hut in the upper right.

If you get jonesing for Western Food, the is always KFC, 7-11 and of course

Starbucks.
